Just like with the sale of the hospital, the city council has no input in these matters. The only one Lifepoint will answer to is its shareholders. When the continued red ink comes to the attention of the institutional investors, then there may be changes. The community negativity only serves to drive away paying patients, leading to cutbacks at the hospital, leading to fewer services available for the community. Lifepoint rationalizes its cutbacks due to low volume which leads to a downward spiraling of remaining providers and employees. Their promises to anyone except their shareholders are but empty words.
To align interests, the army takes the men that pack parachutes randomly up in a plane and drops them out with their own chutes. Makes you do things right! How many of Lifepoint senior administration lives in this community? How many get care in this community? From their own hospital?? Many board members routinely go out of town. If you believe in your product you should use it!
