"Final Report" from Citizens Commission available online

The Commission's final report is available at the link below:

http://www.danville-va.gov/upload/images/City-TV%2020/Commission%20Report.pdf

Note that this document does not include the approximately 50-page transcript of comments made at a public hearing. That transcript is available, however, in the printed copy of the final report that can be obtained through the city clerk's office.

So much for the expert

To the editor:
I read every word of, “An outside look at DRMC’s problems,” (July 8, page B9).
If this were not such a serious local matter, this bunch of words would be laughable. This man wrote a report that leaves the impression he thinks the community is trying to bankrupt the local LifePoint operation so the company will sell the hospital. If that is what he thinks, he should not be calling himself a consultant.
What he apparently does not understand is the community does not really have a health care problem now. We just drive a bit farther for hospital health care. The physicians who have hospital practices here have a problem and the LifePoint hospital has a problem, but the community residents do not.
I could have written what he said. Come to think of it, did he actually say anything? This verbiage was nothing except a waste of $25,000 from the $200 million “the boys” now have with which to play “community Santa Claus” - with the community’s money!

The article referred to in the letter above was published on July 8. It was a reprint of the report to the citizens commission by consultant Keith Pryor. This was the $25K report that gave us the prescription for moving forward to overcome the issues at DRMC...these were trust, dialogue and leadership.

Interestingly, this was presented as a "Community Voices" article. Hmmm...according to the letterhead in the Citizens Commission report, Mr. Pryor lives in Bryn Mawr, PA.
