Dead End?

Went to read through the Citizens Commission report...when you click the link on the Commission website, you get a "page not found" error message.

Anybody have any idea why this is no longer available? Can you still get a hard copy from the clerk's office?

CONSPIRACY!

Paranoia! Grassy Knoll! Magic Bullet! Small town gossip!

Thank you so much. I own a small business that your economic development folks have been trying to attract. While conducting due diligence, I came across your site. You have completely helped me make my decision to not come to the Danville area. We were so close to relocating. This blog helped us not make that mistake.

Excellent. It is criminal of our economic development artists to lure people into our area when we do not have a hospital that can properly care for families or employees. It makes me feel very good whenever someone is warned by this blogsite.

I picked up a copy from the city clerk's office. Why would anyone hide the report? It is completely innocuous.

Please post Jess Judy's infamous email threatening the docs. Not all of us got to see it.

A rumor was circulating today that Wannabe Bank Boy Bob Ashby is retiring and leaving town. Anything to that? I'd hate to see that, because many think he is the only one of the Gang of Five who might have the deep-down courage to come clean and try to help.

That talk has been around for weeks on Sshby. Newer talk is that former mayor Linwood Wright is going to play a big role in the $200 million foundation.

Is Linwood Wright a good guy or a bad guy? We weren't living here when he was mayor.

"While conducting due diligence, I came across your site"

If you were conducting due diligence, then you also surely realized strength in a community who will stand up for quality performance. Please come and join us. We appreciate due diligence, sounds like we have a lot in common. We also pride ourselves in being diligent-its part of the personality of non-urban "low hanging fruit" that our current hospital leadership has referenced.

If you became part of our Danville family you could help us communicate this to them.

Let me be a bit clearer. I toured the hospital and met a couple physicians. It is your blog full of negative references to outsiders, anti-business sentiment, etc. I don't think I could move my company's leaders and their families to the Danville area. I've also copied my posting here to the economic developmnet folks so they'll know what a deterrent your site is. Thanks again.

Anonymous said...

Hogwash! I say this is either a plant or Lifepoint insider.

Anonymous said...

Well, if the truth is a deterrant so be it. You should be thankful, rather than critical that you weren't deceived.
I call BS on your post... exactly why would a "small business" go so far as touring a hospital and meeting physicians (unless your small business is healthcare related)? In which case this blog really did you a favor.
Also exactly how many "company's leaders and their families" does a "small" business have?
And if you are truly disgruntaled enough, about the fact that you learned the truth prior to moving here, that you would contact economic development to alert them (I assume so other small business leaders will have the truth hidden from them). Then why post anonymously?

Anonymous said...

True!

Due diligence should have included meeting with other business owners. Then you would have found out the FEW comments on here that make negative references to outsiders, and show anti-business sentiment, were just that FEW. 99% of this blog is about Lifepoint, how they have wrecked a once fine facility, the foolish men that sold it, and ways to return ourselves to what we once were. Outsider references for the most part reference Lifepoint outsiders, not those who choose to relocate here for legitimate well run businesses.
You should also be glad that a community is willing to stand up for quality.

In your words "We were so close to relocating" yet you based your decision not to come solely on an anonymous blog?

If you are legit, I say post your name and give us the other factors that weighed into your decision. I like the previous poster call BS, a true business leader would not try to hide the major influence of their decision from other businesses that might be looking to relocate, which is what you suggest by "I've also copied my posting here to the economic developmnet folks so they'll know what a deterrent your site is."

Anonymous said...

You folks are naive to believe any of this. No legitimate business leader would waste time responding to a blog; he would just move on in his search for dumber low-hanging fruit.

That post was done by either a city official or a junior Bank Boy. It's their silly way of "punishing" the blog because in this case they cannot bully and intimidate you by getting you fired or worse.

Keep up the good work!

As for my family, we really believe that outsiders should be warned abour this LifePoint and all the rest. It is sinful to know what we know and fail to spread the word. Let the chips fall wherever.

Anonymous said...

Someone please, post the email.

Anonymous said...

I find it very hard to believe that Jess Judy would send a threatening email to physicians under any circumstances. I call you out to produce it.

Anonymous said...

Heard it from several sources. I'd like to see it too.

Anonymous said...

The version I was told about was hardly threatening....just laying out how the docs were killing their money-pie if they aren't thinking LPNT at every turn.

Anonymous said...

Well we all know if you want to send Doctors running just mention revenue loss.

Anonymous said...

I read the letter, and yes it was threatening. Threatening them with a lengthy legal battle over the certificate of need procedure. Very demeaning to the doctors.

Anonymous said...

post it and let us decide.

Anonymous said...

You must post it. People in other communities now need to know that we are not blowing smoke. The horrors and threats are real. I read it but do not have a copy.

Anonymous said...

It was sent to the physicians and we have seen it,
however , It is proper for them to inform us and let us read it and be the judges of the material it may not be entirely proper to post it to the media or web since it is somewhat specific information for the MD's But
It is real and we have seen it, all you have to do is ask and you may see it also....

Anonymous said...

I'll believe there is a threatening email when I see it posted. Otherwise, it's just the same old rumor mill.

Anonymous said...

I do not doubt the credibility of the e-mail. It is a typical move. The CON(certificate of need) situation is another battle, however, it will be a learning experience for everyone. Anybody got close ties to state government?

Anonymous said...

Obtaining a CON is a long drawn out process filled with lots of government red tape. I have yet to see a CON request that was not opposed by the current facilities in the area aka. the competition.
It would also be wise for our parent co to convince our docs not to leave us. An email of this type sent to them would not be a bad thing.
If posted the probability of us all saying "What's the big deal about the email?" is quite high.
Let us see it.

Here is the site where you can monitor COPNs and their review timelines:

Anonymous said...

Just wondering why Jess Judy would threaten with a long drawn out process regarding a CON anyway?

What does Lifepoint have to gain or loose?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, good question. Would someone explain it to us non MBA types?

Anonymous said...

First of all if you want to see the e-mail ask the MD's.

Should someone else receive a CON a critical care facility or free standing surgical center could be built either of which could add rooms and become a non-profit hospital in a very short time.
The county board has already publically stated and approved the resolution for this.In 6 months to a year there could be a new facility. Not a lot lifepoint can do about it and they're frieghtened by the concept of a true hospital (ie.NONprofit) coming to fruition.
And it could be one of the nonprofit MAGNET hospitals nearby oh the joy.

From WBTM website:

(DANVILLE) --THE TOP RECOMMENDATION OF THE CITIZEN’S COMMISSION THAT EXAMINED LIFEPOINT’S OPERATION AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL IS ABOUT TO BECOME A REALITY. CITY LEADERS HAVE ANNOUNCED A MEETING NEXT WEEK TO ORGANIZE WHAT WILL BE CALLED THE HOSPITAL HEALTHCARE PANEL. DANVILLE MAYOR WAYNE WILLIAMS PROMISED EARLIER THIS MONTH TO MEET WITH LEADERS FROM PITTSYLVANIA AND CASWELL COUNTIES TO BEGIN FORMING THE NEW LEADERSHIP COMMISSION. THEIR GOAL IS TO START AND MAINTAIN A DIALOGUE WITH LIFEPOINT OVER ISSUES AT DANVILLE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER. NO WORD YET ON THE EXACT COMPOSITION OF THE NEW PANEL.

Idiots all of you.

Anonymous said...

So if we're all idiots and you read the blog and choose to answer like "all of" us then that would make you an idiot also, WELCOME to the club.

Anonymous said...

For those that continue to comment in the vein of "idiots all of you"...why do you continue to visit the blog?
Seriously, if this does not interest you, why bother? Or, if you are so much in the know that you see the discussion here as misguided, please offer some of your more educated and professional commentary so that we can learn more truth about what is going on here. Maybe that will decrease the idle speculation that seems to frustrate you so.

I for one can tolerate some of the gossip on this page in return for those posts that actually shed some light on what is going on and that I would never see covered in the local media.

Keep up the good work on the blog. For those of you that were frustrated by your visit, thanks for coming and bon voyage.

re: Linwood Wright
He traveled up and down the road for the bank boys finding out about selling "a community hospital". He works for the Institute and does consultation work for them. Who knows if his intentions were good or bad? Who knows if he will benefit from the $200 mil? You be the judge.

I have a copy of the e-mail from Jess Judy but I don't know how to post it on this blog. Can anybody tell me?

Anonymous said...

You can either post it here as a comment or you can e-mail it to Sentinel Event at drmcanon@hotmail.com and the blogmaster can post it.

Anonymous said...

"Mr" Linwood Wright
STAY away he has already made his contempt for the workers of this area known when he called all of the Blue collar workers in danville Morons several years ago.
KEEP HIM AWAY or he'll be the next lifepoint goon.

Oh and please post the letter WITH names.

Anonymous said...

After former Mayor Linwood Wright was caught out referring to "stupid lintheads," he came to be known by his detractors as "Linthead Linwood."

You may send it to drmcanon@hotmail.com and I will post it on the site.
