Citizens Commission website update

So much for an open forum...

First, the link to the archives of public comments on the Citizens Commission website was removed.
Bad, but not terrible, because the old links to the archive pages still worked. So I posted them on this blog.

Today? Click on one of the links below and it takes you a big white page with "The page cannot be found"

Oh well. I guess it was too good of an idea. Hopefully, members of the Citizens Commission will come to this blog to keep on top of public comment related to events at DRMC.

Real simple what's going on. Wayne Williams, doctor and mayor, wants the problems to go away. He cooked up this commission without any open discussion. According to the commission, he is personally selecting a"consultant" to use the commission to figure out what people think. The result will be that people like the hospital--along with a few suggestionsd to make it even better.

The commission is a fraudulent idea being used to trick us into thinking something is being donw for our good--but in truth it's the same old/same old.

Williams, like all the other big shots, has nothing but contempt for the intelligence of us ordinary people.

But we really are not as stupid as he thinks--and we need to remember this at election-time.

Give us a break!

This is no joking matter.

Wayne Williams is a highly respected doc who specializes in Ears, Noses and Throats. I hear he is excellent on Ears and Throats, but not much on Noses.

He can tell us what he wants us to hear, and he can stuff what he wants down our throats. But when it comes to our Noses, there's no way he can hide the stink coming out of his Citizens Commission. It's beginning to stink as bad as LifePoint.

All of this is just getting ridiculous! All the people of this community want is Quality Healthcare.
I know that Lifepoint has made mistakes. We are all aware of them and they say they are now accepting they did things wrong, and are willing to try to make things better. But all anyone wants to do is look into the past. That is getting us nowhere.
The Commisssion is trying to find out what the problems are and to see that they can do to make things better. Now people are saying they are somehow involved in some kind of conspiracy with Dr. Williams leading this conspiracy. This is crazy! At some point we have to just take care of the patients and provide the best care we can. As an employee I see that there has been a real effort by Administration to make things right, this effort has been led by
Ruth McDaniel interim CNO. If we can get Art out and either her, or someone like her in as CEO we could do some great things at DRMC.
Life point is here, and it appears they are not going anywhere so lets start working together and do the right thing for our community, and our patients.

I agree, however you say we keep looking at the past.....well hasn't it been said that if we don't study history we are doomed to repeat it? LPT's history is riddled with failure, hospital closings, and communities left in disarray. That is what needs to be avoided. I sincerely hope all of this effort allows us to return to a non-profit either with or without the likes of Moses Cone. I heartily agree bashing the Mayor or the Citizens Committee is WRONG. The boys at the bank is another matter they deserve to be held accountable (Mostly by not allowing them to keep their greedy arms wrapped around the $200 mil.), and owe it to the citizens to prove accountability. That being said, THIS is the forum for that. I'd be willing to bet the Citizens Commission took down the comments pages because of rants like BUY IT BACK BUY IT BACK ad nauseum. Vent here but make your points to the paper, city council, and the Citizens Commission legitimate, factual and not personal attacks on anyone. Otherwise you sound like your whining insrtead of trying to help.

Actually, there are a lot of us that would like to look toward the future and fix this thing before the rest of the wheels fall off of it. For example, if administration would just tell us what the heck we need to fix in order to be once again accredited by JCAHO, then we'd rally around the flag and make it happen.
As it is, we don't have much to hang our hats on.
If DRMC administration won't work with us, then there's not much to get excited about there.
If the Citizens Commission doesn't have any commitment from LPNT that anything they suggest will be listened to or adopted, then we lose there too.

So, where do we look for a little bit of hope that people are actually working together to create change???

I don't think the citizen's committee cut public access to the daily comments for any reason other than they needed more than just anonymous contributions.

"they needed more than just anonymous contributions"

Two responses to that...

First, I think that most people who want to provide information about the situation in the hospital are employees and are afraid to attach their name for fear of retribution/discipline.

Second, if that really is the reason, put a note on the Commission comment page that says all submissions must be accompanied by a name or at least a valid email address. Given the fact that no one has been able to have a forum with the Commission without senior management present, they need some sort of a way to present information confidentially.

While there have been some posts on this blog that have not added any value, the majority have contributed something valid and valuable. Being able to post anonymously has given access to a forum that many employees don't feel they have at work or thru any other channel.

Simply deleting the archives without explanation makes everyone feel that one more channel of communication has been taken away from them. Now, you wonder if your comment is being read by every member of the Commission or has simply disappeared into a vacuum.
