Tuesday, October 2, 2007

DANVILLE – Danville Regional Medical Center has just announced that Jerel Humphrey has been named chief executive officer of the hospital effective October 29.
Humphrey, 52, has most recently headed a 72-bed, physician-owned, acute care hospital in Houston from its initial development to construction and through the accreditation process by the Joint Commission and the Texas health department, according to a hospital press release.
He has served in a variety of executive roles within the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston, Texas, during the last 20 years, including as CEO of 600-bed Memorial Hermann Southwest and 520-bed Memorial Hermann City Hospital.
In the press release, Humphrey states that his wife, Linda, and daughter, Rachel, will move to Danville during Christmas break.

1st amendment right to free speech and the intelligence to decypher a pattern of behavior , I wish him the best and I hope that he is a bright talented individual, his qualifications are certainly excellent but only time will tell if he can provide a reasonable path and more importantly if lifepoint will let him....

Much like people who take other leadership positions in this community, the new CEO will only be as visionary and effective as his superiors...those who set the "real" strategic direction of the organization...allow him to be.

Why is it when others have clearly had the intelligence and skill to lead other (and much better) organizations, they are questoined when they come to Danville. Poor pitiful people.

Sometimes they are put into an impossible situation where the organization is set up against their success (and I'm not just talking DRMC here). A very skilled leader who is handed their marching orders and doesn't have the latitude to really succeed is going to tire of pushing against the grain. Let's hope that people like the new CEO of DRMC and the new director of the foundation can take their past professional successes and transform the organization they have been put in charge of.

Many may disagree but the two CEOs previously sent (Mr. Lambert and Mr. Doloresco) were good strong leaders. They had much stacked against them and little consistency and true support for success from the mother ship. Mr. Doloresco had to deal with Ms. Mcdaniel and she assinated his credibility and effectiveness from the start. Lets all hope that this new gentleman is given a fair shake and time and support to right the many wrongs.

Toad and the Art ful Dodger both were sent here for one thing---to cut the "fat". Both were users and liars. Both appeared to be borderline character disorder patients!
