Public hearings start next week:
May 8 - Chatham High School
May 10 - O.T. Bonner Middle School
May 15 - Yanceyville Town Hall community room (Yanceyville, N.C.)
7:00 pm

UPDATE: Okay, when I posted this, I posted it straight from the Commission website...the note above said the meeting was on Tuesday May 1. I looked at the Commission website today and the note says that the meeting "scheduled for Thursday, May 3...is cancelled". Why the date switch and, more importantly, why was it cancelled?

Who's on first?

Register & Bee,
PLEASE cover this meeting and the town halls so that all can hear what is being said and how the commission and council are responding to it. We also need to hear from the attorney general's representative.
I ask this not only for all the employees of DRMC but especially for those members of the community who, for some reason, do not believe that the issues are as serious as they really are.

Someone in the community must think it is serious since the paper had an article that city councilman David Luther had UVA. Remember, Mr. Luther was one who had a hand in the sale of the hospital since he sat on the board. Wonder what he knows that we don't?

He had surgery at UVA. If the article is right. He had a procedure to remove stones from his bile duct which is done at DRMC every day. Don't think you need a teaching facility for a procedure such as that.

David Luther is a deeply intelligent man, and of course he would not have any procedure done at DRMC under Lifepoint. You may not like Mr. Luther, but he is not a fool.

I agree that the newspaper should cover the meetings. That's the only way those who work at the hospital will know what happens. The only ones who will show up will be the Lifepoint yassah-boss employees.

Did anyone attend the meeting? Can anyone offer any feedback? I really wanted to go but had to work second shift that day.

The commission meeting on Tuesday was to finalize plans for the public forums and to complete the public opinion surveys. Everything they needed to do was accomplished that evening and there was no need to meet on Thursday. The surveys will be available at the forums. I believe you will also be able to email the commission members to request a survey. Not sure of other means of access. Will probably be announced on the commission website, in the newspaper, at the forums, etc. After the 3 forums the next commission meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 22 at 5:15 pm.

I am a hospital employee and will plan to attend one of these meetings so I can see for myself what is said. I am not a yassah-boss employee. Please give us a little more credit than that. Some of us have balls!
